Info for Grantees
How YiP works . . . .The program begins in September when students form committees and decide on their areas of interest and ends in May when committees granting recommendations are approved. In early January, each school gets a list of all the organizations the other YiP committees are planning to visit; by providing students with this info, we at the Foundation hope to encourage a balance of student interest among agencies. In late January, their journey begins as they work together to set up site visits with the organizations they have chosen to learn more about. If your organization has been chosen by one - or in some cases, multiple - committees you will begin to receive correspondence by mail, email, or telephone from students who want to set up a site visit.
YiPpers at Winnipeg Harvest
February and March are peak season for site visits. Student feedback indicates that site visits transform the YiP experience to take on a new meaning for students: an in person site visit provides students with a tangible understanding of the impact and importance of charitable work and dedication to community development. When students have completed their site visits, they submit a final report to The Winnipeg Foundation for approval. Successful agencies will receive notification by mail in late June. |
